World History Timeline

Inspired by H.G. Wells’ A Short History of the World which I read all in one sitting and reread, I draw a timeline showing the key events. It feels like high school all over. I’m on a history binge lately, perusing anything from ancient Egypt to modern-day Israel-Syria-Palestine conflict.

The next book would be A Little History of the World by E. H. Gombrich which is quite a parallel to H.G. Wells’ book in scope and period in which it was written. I choose this because Gombrich is German so it’s interesting to read about the world from the perspective of a German. The book tells the story of mankind from the Stone Age to the atomic bomb, focusing not on small detail but on the sweep of human experience, the extent of human achievement, and the depth of its frailty.
