my reading isn’t influenced by season except for christmas haha. when it’s christmas i like reading christmas theme books just so i can really feel the holidays in the air ) but when it’s summer, i tend to be more relax and laid back and just like you i tend to pick lighter books

haven’t read any of these.. though I watched ‘Remains of the Day’ and loved the movie.. and plan to read ‘The Great Gatsby’ soon….
and the others sound interesting too so am adding them to my TBR..am guessing will be adding many other books from your blog to my TBR.

The last two books on your list I’ve yet to read, but the first three are favorites of mine as well–could easily reread any of them (and have read The Great Gatsby at least three times!). Hope you’re well Matt!

I love Pete Hamill!! We met through his audiobook of Downtown: My Manhattan (which he also narrated). I went on to read North River and loved it, then most recently Tabloid City. I also heard him speak at a lecture series I attended with my book club a couple of years ago – we decided he would be the perfect guest at any dinner party. Such an earnest, thoughtful man and he truly loves the written word.

I knew The Master and Margarita would be on there! I just recently re-read Gatsby in anticipation of the movie and it was much more enjoyable than it was when I was in high school. I just didn’t get it at that age. I rarely re-read books as a rule, but when I need an easy read, I turn to graphic novels and crime thrillers.

It’s so rare to see a male book blogger! I’ve read Gatsby a few times, but I still don’t really like it. I couldn’t find anyone to sympathize with. The other books you listed sound interesting, though.
