No one tries to buy me books either but I’ve yet to get a gift card from the kids or hubby!!! Maybe this will be the year?

I love to get gift certificates or gift cards…but I hate to give them.

While we have polar opposites when it comes to wish list habits, you have no idea how happy I am to learn that there are other people like me who read books in no sensible order or fashion. My reading habits are focused around availability, proximity, and mood, of which nobody (not even myself) has any sort of handle on. Sometimes I will even read multiple books at the same time, which drives my wife crazy.

This was the first year that I sent out my wish list, both book and other items. In the past, I would give subtle hints to family members or say that I didn’t care. And with as much as I read, you would think my loved ones would know that any gift card from a book store would be most appreciated. Unfortunately, I have NEVER received either a wanted book or gift cards to book stores for the holidays. And frankly, I’m tired of not getting what I truly want.

I agree though that my wish list is essentially my shopping list. I’m going to try it this year and see what comes of it. Hopefully, people will take the hint and finally get me something that I both want and can use.

I have always enjoyed reading EM Forster. I had a huge anthology of his work that I read over and over again in high school. Have not read them in a very long time. Might have to pull out that book again.

I like to read easy, fast-paced thrillers while on the plane. Usually mass-market paperbacks I find in the airport bookstore.
